Gable-End Extension in Contrasting Brick

A rear extension built up to the full height of the existing gable, where the new grey brickwork is deliberately set against the original reclaimed brick above rather than pretending to match it. A banded course of the same grey brick runs across the elevation at cill level to tie the two together, and the return elevation carries the banding round.

The ground floor is a four-panel anthracite bi-fold with a matching side door, looking back into a dining space. It is a good example of the decision that makes or breaks an extension on an older property: match the old brick badly, or contrast it properly and detail the junction.
