Roofing
Slating, tiling, flat roofs, zinc and lead work, guttering and skylights
Roofs give you very little notice. The first sign is usually a stain on a ceiling, by which time the felt, the batten or the flashing has been letting water in for a while. We survey the roof properly — covering, structure, flashings, valleys, gutters — and tell you whether it is a repair or a replacement, rather than selling you the bigger job by default.
We work in slate and tile on pitched roofs, and in rubber and other flat-roof systems where the fall and the detail demand it. Zinc and lead work, coping stones, guttering, skylights and the carpentry that sits under all of it are part of the same service — including the roof insulation that decides whether the room below is usable in February.
Pitched roofs — slating and tiling
Full re-roofs and repairs in slate and tile, including the battens, membrane, ridge and verge details that actually keep the water out. Rotten or undersized timbers are replaced as part of the same visit rather than roofed over.
Flat roofs and rubber systems
Flat roofing laid to fall with a proper upstand and edge detail, including rubber roof systems on extensions, garages, dormers and commercial buildings — one of the roofs we have carried out was a rubber system on a commercial property in Warrington.
Lead, zinc, coping and rainwater
Lead flashings, soakers and valleys, zinc work, coping stones on parapets, and guttering, fascias and downpipes — the details where most roof leaks actually start.
Skylights and roof insulation
Rooflights and skylights cut in, trimmed and flashed properly, and roof insulation upgraded while the covering is off — the cheapest time you will ever be able to do it.
